Using Obedience Training Tactics for Your
Dog

There are lots of puppy and dog owners around the world and
not all of them have the money and economic finances to be able
to take the dog to an obedience dog training school. However,
most people do want their dog to be well-behaved and sociable,
but not over excited and capable of causing problems while they
are with the owner. Because of this, many people will try to
train their own dog. This is especially challenging in the case
of training a deaf dog.
This is a great endeavor and many people are often happy
with the results, but the truth is that some individuals are
just not dog trainers and they do not know how to get started
with this process. As a result, it can be helpful to review the
basics of obedience dog training tactics that can be used in
order to turn an unruly dog into something that can truly be
called man’s best friend.
First, when the dog does something right, praise the dog. If
the dog does something wrong, make sure that it is made aware
of it as soon as possible. When too much time elapses, it can
become pointless to punish the dog for a mistake since they may
not and likely do not even remember what it is that they did
wrong. This can be frustrating for some people who will want to
punish the dog immediately, but the truth is that this is not
practical or functional when it comes to training the dog.
Instead, keep a more careful eye on the dog. If one has to
punish the dog for a wrong doing after a substantial period of
time has elapsed, roughly an hour or more, sternly speak to the
dog and say “No!” in a very commanding manner, but do not hit
the dog. Dogs will often act guilty or sluggish even after this
time period has elapsed because they are very good at sensing
the mood and environment around their owner. This does not mean
that they know what they did, and it is important to keep this
in mind.
