There are positives and negatives that go with the two main
types of obedience training environments when it comes to dogs.
There is the possibility of the individual home schooling their
dog, and there is also the possibility of bringing the dog to a
dog training school. By looking over a list of pros and cons
when it comes to each, the individual owner can make the choice
that they are most comfortable with utilizing. Please keep in
mind that the answer to the dilemma will vary from individual
owner to owner since personal preferences vary.
Home training allows the individual to have constant contact
with the dog. It is also free, which fits in to most people’s
budgets just perfectly. It also lets the dog know that there is
expected of them a certain degree of decorum and obedience in
the presence of their master. However, many people lack the
training and knowledge or patience in order to make sure that
they properly train their dog. For individuals that get
frustrated easily, they may become too upset with their dog and
nothing good can come of that.
Dog training schools are nice because all the work is done
professionally and for or with the owner. However, it can be
fairly expensive when it comes to where the individual is
located and the prices of these sessions in that area, as well
as the fact that the dog may come to be obedient primarily in
the presence of the instructor and not in the presence of the
owner. The decision is left up to the individual but there are
positive and negative qualities to each decision. For the most
part, the individual needs to assess themselves and see what it
is that they can and cannot do. Knowing one’s weaknesses and
strengths is vital, as well as knowing what would make the dog
more comfortable and supported.
