Dog Training Tips for You

The truth is that when it comes to training a dog, this is
not for the faint of heart. Dogs are very loving and helpful
companions, but when it comes to training them it is important
not to let emotions get in the way of making sure that the dog
is educated in important areas. By maintaining different mind
sets for training a dog and playing with a dog, the individual
can more easily and effectively train their dog.
The idea is not to be the dog’s friend while training, but
to lead them in instructions so that they will be a smarter,
safer and more reliable dog. Too many people can become caught
up in the emotions of loving the dog as they train them and
this will not accomplish much of anything at all. The dog will
or could begin to manipulate the individual and could actually
end up getting out of learning. This could put both the dog and
the owner in jeopardy.
Next, be sure to keep in mind that dogs do need breaks from
learning just like people do. If they are over worked, they
will not be as successful as dogs that have breaks. They are
very similar to child students in that they do need breaks and
need to have a type of recess in which they can run around and
otherwise play in order to keep their morale up.
Keep treats on hand so that when the dogs do perform their
instructions correctly and follow the directions they know that
they are doing the right thing. This will also help to
reiterate that they are doing a good job, in addition to
reminding the dog that they are doing well and are very good as
they go through the process of learning and performing actions.
This process will take time and owners need to remember to be
patient and work slowly but steadily.
